a counterfeit storm

Chrome updated to post-Shimon somewhat recently! This was all well and good on its own, but she went and asked 'Dera about Spade. The inconsistency being pointed out then lead to 'Dera forming a certain theory. Things snowballed in chat and the tl;dr version is under the cut, but let's have a more condensed version to start with.

Basically, the island has been trolling Giotto for nearly two years (and somehow even explained a couple of old OOC problems along the way).
► Tsuna has more or less screwed up Thal's plans in some way every time she's made a move, and Giotto has the potential to be just as much trouble because he has similar abilities. The only difference between these two was that Tsuna had Guardians to threaten and Giotto didn't, so Giotto was a little more free to act.

► The island should have grabbed the "real" first gen Guardians, but didn't for whatever reason (in reality, Ryu, Val, and Nebbia were tossed into the game before canon expanded on the first generation and made our group fake). Whether it was Cyriana/Thalassa/both that had a hand in it, this was a test of control in more ways than one.

► The memories of the entire cast were altered a bit, exactly to prevent inconsistencies like the mention of Spade ruining everything--affection for the substitute Guardians had to be established before that was allowed to happen.

► This also explains why Enma never got a solid explanation as to what happened with Cozart--it involved Spade as a major player, and therefore memory of it got messy (in reality, it was because the Shimon arc was currently on-going and accurately explaining anything was impossible).

► As of 12/28/11 it somehow got worse. Basically this twist is so trolltastic, it's...trolling us back.

[Contrary to what you may initially think, there is not a TYE 'Dera here. There is, however, a confused Storm who's pretty sure he somehow fell asleep without realizing it. This...definitely isn't Italy, and it being some sort of dream makes way more sense than being randomly teleported to an unfamiliar town.]

What the hell...

[There's an unamused Storm sitting outside the bakery this morning, cigarette in hand. Things could be much worse, certainly, but this was awkward enough to cause annoyance over the situation. Still, Val has no intention of doing anything like hiding away the entire week (or however long it takes for this to go away), simply because that would be letting whichever power that finds it amusing win.]

[It might have been noticed that the first Storm also had managed to disappear for the last few days, but it hadn't been of his own doing. And while it's only been a handful of days for those stuck on the island, it's actually been a few months for him. He hasn't changed much--except for that tattoo on the right side of his face.]

And you call that proper tech- [Apparently drilling the lower ranks had been on the agenda for the day until the mermaids decided they needed him back.] ...This place again?
